Happy Fourth

I'd like to interrupt our regularly scheduled program to wish everybody and their families a happy fourth. Independence day is America's national heritage day remembering when the thirteen colonies broke away from England and became its own Republic in 1776. But its much more than that. It's a time when people come together as a nation as well as with their families and bond. It's a beautiful thing. The fireworks are cool too-albeit I might not see any because of my work schedule. I can remember many fourth of July's as a kid and they were all great. Now that I'm older I see it more as commodified holiday-much like Christmas. It's great but you can see where its all about money. People have to have parties and buy all this stuff to have fun. Then they have to buy fireworks-sometimes through illegal means to get the better stuff. But I digress.

The main thing to keep in mind as young people today in America is the state of the Republic. It's great being an American and supporting our troops as well as celebrating our independence. What's not great is the nature of our political elites. I'm talking mostly about Hillary and Trump. Is that the future of America? Politics have been out of hand for quite some time now. It's gotten to the point where Trump started off as a joke and now he's a serious political contender for the Presidency. Hillary also has her own baggage although she is not as bad as Trump. At least Hillary has political experience-something Trump sorely lacks. While we observe the independence of this great nation let us think about the future and ensure its safety in the right, capable hands. Something to think about, that's for sure.
